We are fortunate to have a "canteen" for our university behind the Hostel where we live. Most of the food is not too bad, but luckily I have not needed the canteen as much this year since Lyudmila has brought me some food for my room. However, at times I need to go by and get a bowl of hot soup. I was surprised today with the prices as a bowl of soup (mostly liquid and some rice and a few veggies), a chicken cutlet and a can of lipton iced tea was 195 Rubles. Sometimes these places are more reasonable than other restaurants but I am sure I could have gotten the same thing down the street for less... price of convenience? Maybe the cashier just wanted to burn the "rich American Professor?"
